A new monument dating back to the period of the Karabakh Khanate was discovered in Shusha, Report informs, citing Director of the Institute of Archeology, Ethnography and Anthropology of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) Abbas Seyidov as telling the Republican Scientific Conference "Shusha-270: Archeology, History, Ethnography and Anthropology".
"On February 5, we received information about the finds on the construction site of a hotel building in Shusha. Our employees immediately went to Shusha on a business trip to conduct archaeological excavations. The construction of the hotel was suspended. In the course of research work, fragments of pipes intended for the removal of wastewater, dating back to the period of the Karabakh Khanate, were discovered. In the future, we plan that visitors to the hotel under construction will be able to see the archaeological find through the glass," he said.
