Armenia has to play a responsible role in accordance with its obligations under the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Khalid Taimur Akram, executive director of the Pakistani Center for Global & Strategic Studies, said in an interview with Report.
He noted that yesterday the International Court of Justice has called on Armenia to take immediate measures against those actors and groups within the country which are involved in conducting extremists’ activities in Azerbaijan, sponsoring racial discrimination and sabotaging peace: “This decision by the ICJ will be much appreciated as to held Armenia accountable for its wrongdoings. Under this decision, Armenia now must play a vigilant role in locating such groups or individuals as well as stop violating ceasefire agreement with Azerbaijan.”
As he noted Armenia has always been indulged in state-sponsored terrorism and violence against Azerbaijan, followed by sabotaging the region’s stability.
Azerbaijan has always pursued a peaceful approach towards regional stability. Any offensive act by Armenia would not only undermine the ceasefire agreement but will also sabotage regional peace, he concluded.
