EU Commissioner: We must step up efforts to resolve Karabakh conflict

Baku. 6 March. REPORT.AZ/ "We must step up efforts based on the demands and wishes of the parties," Johannes Hahn, the EU commissioner for European neighborhood and enlargement negotiations, said.

Report informs citing Armenian media that Hahn has thus answered the question about the assistance in the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict asked by a journalist during a joint press conference with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Brussels.

"As the parties know each other well, they also know the work ahead of them. We must be ready to assist, if the parties ask. We can assist the region, in general. We can cooperate with regional countries in various spheres. In other words, there can be many opportunities, but time is important for implementation of some of them," the EU Commissioner said.

Notably, in their statement by results of their regional visit the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will meet soon.
