Bryza: Horrific bombings in Ganja will never be forgotten

The consequences of rocket attacks on Ganja should encourage active work on the implementation of post-war agreements, Matthew Bryza, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, International Expert and former US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, told Report.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the horrific and illegal bombings in Ganja two years ago today, which killed so many innocent children, women, and men. While this crime will never be forgotten, hopefully it will motivate those who seek peace to work more actively to implement the post-war agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan and thereby ensure such heinous acts never recur,” he said.

During the Second Karabakh War, the Armenian Armed Forces shelled Ganja city with rockets and heavy artillery a total of five times - on October 4, 5, 8, 11, 17 of 2020. As a result of these attacks, 26 people were killed, 175 were injured, and serious damage was caused to civilian infrastructure and vehicles.

During the Second Karabakh War, as a result of the military aggression of Armenia, 93 civilians were killed, including 12 children and 27 women, 454 civilians were injured, a total of 12,292 residential and non-residential buildings, 288 vehicles, 1,018 farms were damaged.
