Azerbaijan hands over 10 more Armenian detainees at EU initiative

Following the results of the trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which took place in Brussels on December 14, 2021, at the initiative of the European Council President Charles Michel, Azerbaijan transferred 10 Armenian service members to the Armenian side on December 19, 2021, with the mediation of the European Union.

According to the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of Azerbaijan, the extradited persons were detained by the Azerbaijni side on November 16, 2021, while preventing a provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces in the direction of Kalbajar, Report informs.

Of the 10 servicemen of Armenian origin transferred to Armenia by Azerbaijan, who has consistently demonstrated adherence to humanism principles, on December 4, 2021, four were later arrested by the Armenian side, and six were charged.
