Turkish Ambassador: We are building a modern Silk Road using technology

"Our ancestors built the Silk Road for the transport of goods between Asia and Europe. Today, centuries later, we are building the modern Silk Road thanks to the opportunities provided by technology and modernization. "

Report informs citing the foreign media, Turkish Ambassador to Beijing Abdulkadir Emin Onen said.

"Turkey and China have common ideas and interests for deepening regional economic cooperation in Eurasia through transport corridors. The Edirne-Kars high-speed railway line construction from west to east Turkey will provide faster and cheaper transport from China and Central Asia to Europe.

Besides, Istanbul New Airport, Yavuz Sultan Selim, Osman Gazi, 1915 Canakkale Bridges, Marmaray and Eurasia Tunnel, roads, seaports, logistics centers are also vital pillars of Turkey's growing hybrid transport network," Ambassador stressed.

Notably, the first export train departed from Istanbul on December 4 and, passing through Azerbaijan, arrived in the Chinese city of Xian on December 19.
