Azerbaijan is currently in negotiations with Israel to establish road freight transport (TIR) routes utilizing ferry lines across the Sea of Marmara, Subhan Abilov, Director of the Freight Transport Department at the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA), said.
According to Report, speaking during the first session of the National Business Development Forum held in Baku titled "Discussion of Issues and Proposals for the Development of Transport Infrastructure", Abilov highlighted that one of AYNA’s strategic goals is to increase the share of national carriers in the international market and to expand the geography of Azerbaijan’s transport routes.
“The expansion of our transport network has been made possible thanks to new agreements signed last year with China and Pakistan, as well as the coordination of transportation permit plans. Today, Azerbaijani carriers are operating in 51 countries. Work in this direction continues — including negotiations with Israel on using ferry routes across the Sea of Marmara for TIR shipments. Step by step, the scope of our transport geography is growing,” Abilov emphasized.
