Maritime operations on the Caspian Sea, which were temporarily halted due to severe weather, may resume during the day on April 17.

Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) that strong winds had forced vessels to anchor or seek shelter as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of crews and cargo.

Due to the intensified winds, vessels have been temporarily stationed at anchorages and in safe zones, the statement read.

Earlier reports indicated that weather conditions across Azerbaijan had deteriorated significantly. In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, northwesterly winds reached speeds of up to 34 meters per second. On the "Oil Rocks" offshore platform, wave heights in the Caspian were reported to be around 3 meters.
