A project is being prepared for the reconstruction of the Karabakh irrigation canal, said Rafig Aslanov, the head of the State Control Service for Water Use and Protection under the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, according to Report.
Speaking during a public hearing held by the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan, Aslanov revealed that besides the Karabakh irrigation canal, projects for the construction and restoration of several other water canals are also being developed.
"In recent years, 3,740 sub-artesian and artesian wells have been drilled across the country," he added.
The official stated that by the end of this year, construction will begin on the Bargushad and other water reservoirs located in the Karabakh region: "Currently, a total of 18.760 billion cubic meters of water reserves have been collected in water reservoirs across the country.
Project and estimate documents have been prepared for the reconstruction of the Sarsang water reservoir located in the Karabakh territory, as well as water reservoirs in Aghdam, Aghdara, Kalbajar, and other liberated districts. Construction of some of these facilities is planned to start by the end of 2025."
