Port of Baku posts 14% increase in total throughput

In January-October of this year, 5,356 million tons of cargo were handled at the Port of Baku, which is 14% more than in the same period last year, Press Secretary of the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC Elmar Habibli said, Report informs.
According to him, over 90% of cargoes are transit cargoes: “These cargoes come mainly from China, and partially from Central Asian countries and are sent to various European countries.”
“Port of Baku is being expanded, and its annual handling capacity is expected to be increased from 15 million tons to 25 million tons,” he said.
