Movement on the alternative road to the Lachin corridor, which the Azerbaijani government has finalized its construction, will be possible in the next week, Saleh Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads, said at the presentation of the road equipment and machinery purchased for road infrastructure projects in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, Report informs.
"The alternative road, of which 22 kilometers pass through the territory of Azerbaijan and 10 kilometers through Armenia without entering the city of Lachin, was built in just ten months. From August 15, the alternative road is ready, provided it passes through Azerbaijan territory. However, since the Armenian side has not yet completed the 10 kilometers it was responsible for, the Azerbaijani side also implemented the construction of a 4.8-kilometer part connecting to the new road at the request of the Armenian community living in Karabakh. Within the next week, the Armenian community will be able to move to Khankendi and other regions by using the new road without entering the city of Lachin," he added.
