Length of first-class roads in Azerbaijan rose by 2,000 km over 20 years

The length of first-class roads in Azerbaijan, including newly completed roads in liberated territories, has increased by 2,002 kilometers, or up to 12 times, over the past 20 years, Report informs, citing the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (AAYDA).
In 2004, the total length of first-class roads in the country was 187 kilometers. Currently, the total length stands at 2,189 kilometers.
The North-South and East-West (Silk Road) highways, part of the international transport corridors through Azerbaijan, have been reconstructed to the first class. This reconstruction has ensured safe and efficient vehicle movement via multi-level junctions, facilitating the transport of over 7 million tons of cargo through all corridors during 2024.
