Kazakhstan PM: Construction of underwater internet cable along bottom of Caspian Sea will begin in 2025

Construction of the fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea will begin in 2025, Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov said, Report informs.
The cable will be 380 km long, and its transmission capacity will reach up to 400 terabits per second. The investment in the project will exceed $50 million.
In 2023, telecommunications operators AzerTelecom and Kazakhtelecom signed an agreement to create a joint venture for the construction and operation of the Trans-Caspian fiber-optic communication line along the bottom of the Caspian Sea on the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan route. The parties each hold a 50% stake in the joint venture Caspinet B.V.
