The Belt and Road Initiative project will provide Kyrgyzstan with access to the sea, President Sadyr Japarov said, Report informs referring to Kyrgyz media.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan has close relations with China; the length of the common border is more than 1,000 kilometers.
“We were one of the first to support the Belt and Road Initiative project, because the road will pass through Kyrgyzstan,” Japarov said.
He reminded that the republic has rail and road connections with Kazakhstan and Russia, but has no access to the sea.
“We want to organize this exit in this way by building the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. In addition, we do not have a railway connecting the south and north of the country. We want to build a branch Balykchy-Kochkor-Kara-Keche to Makmal. If we establish a railway communication with China, Uzbekistan and implement this project, we will provide ourselves with access to the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea, as well as to other ports. That is why we supported the project,” the president noted.
