IndiGo suspends pilots of Delhi-Baku Flight due to takeoff without clearance

A recent international flight by Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is in the news for a breach of air traffic control protocols, Report informs, citing the Indian press.

It has been reported that the carrier’s recent flight between Delhi and Baku became airborne without getting clearance from the ATC. Relevant Indian authorities and IndiGo itself will look into the matter.

The actions of two IndiGo pilots are under the microscope after reports emerged that they departed New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) for Baku in Azerbaijan without getting takeoff clearance from air traffic control.

While additional details about the incident are not yet known, India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has launched an investigation to find out how the aircraft took off without getting the necessary clearance. The DGCA has also derostered both pilots of the flight until further investigation.
