ICAO highly evaluates safety of flights in Azerbaijan

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has highly evaluated Azerbaijan's compliance with international flight safety standards, Report informs, referring to the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport (MDDT).

According to information, on June 1-8 this year, ICAO conducted the next large-scale "ICAO Coordinated Validation Missions (ICVM)" audit on the compliance of flight safety in Azerbaijan with international standards in civil aviation within the framework of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme (USOAP).

Based on the results of the audit conducted by ICAO for more than 3 months, according to the preliminary report of the Validation Committee dated September 26, 2022, the effective implementation of the flight safety control system and compliance with ICAO standards were set at 80%. This is 5% higher than both the global and European average set by ICAO by 2025 and is considered a very good achievement. At the same time, this indicator is much higher than the 66% compliance indicator determined as a result of the last audit conducted in Azerbaijan in 2018.

ICAO sent a letter to the MDDT and congratulated the Government of Azerbaijan and the State Civil Aviation Agency under the ministry for the achievements regarding the positive results of the audit. The organization expressed its readiness to discuss the directions of action to further increase the control potential in the future.
