Heydar Aliyev International Airport sees 33% growth in passenger turnover

In the past 9 months of 2024, the Heydar Aliyev International Airport served 5.725 million passengers, which is 33% more compared to the same period in 2023 (4.305 million passengers), Report informs, citing the airport.

During this period, a total of 45,205 flights to more than 80 destinations by 40 airlines were operated from Heydar Aliyev International Airport. This is 25% more than in the same period last year. The expanded route network provided passengers with more travel options, enhancing their overall experience.

52% of international passengers, or 2.68 million people, used the services of foreign airlines. The most popular international destinations were Istanbul, Moscow, Tbilisi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Delhi, with over 2.539 million passengers traveling to these cities.

The national air carrier of Azerbaijan also achieved significant results, strengthening its position on the international arena in the first 9 months of 2024. AZAL's total passenger traffic increased by 41%, exceeding 3.054 million passengers, of which 2.467 million were carried on international routes.

The Nakhchivan route showed stable demand amid increased flight frequency. In the first 9 months of 2024, passenger traffic on this route grew by 6%, reaching 567,000 passengers. The number of flights increased by 28% during this period, totaling 2,651 flights. On average, 12 flights a day are carried out on the Baku-Nakhchivan route, which gives passengers more flexibility in planning their trips.
