Heydar Aliyev Int’l Airport receives international certification in energy management

As a confirmation of its ongoing efforts to enhance energy efficiency and protect the environment, Heydar Aliyev International Airport has obtained the international certification ISO 50001:2018 – Energy Management System, Report informs, citing the airport.
This significant achievement was made possible through close and targeted cooperation between the Health, Safety, Environment, Quality Department (HSEQ) and other relevant structural units. The certification process was carried out by TÜV Austria, a globally recognized auditing and certification organization. According to the audit results, the airport’s energy management operations were assessed as being in full compliance with international standards.
The ISO 50001:2018 standard offers a flexible, continuously improving management framework that enables enterprises to systematically increase energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and costs, and minimize carbon emissions. This approach is especially relevant and strategically important for infrastructure facilities with high energy consumption facilities, including modern international airports.

“The awarding of the ISO 50001:2018 certificate to Heydar Aliyev International Airport shows that the organization applies a systematic and sustainable approach to energy management, fully in line with international standards. It is a clear example of both effective management and high environmental responsibility,” stated Ulkar Guliyeva, Director of the Azerbaijan Representation of TÜV Austria.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport will continue to systematically implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing energy management, transitioning to carbon neutrality, and introducing green technologies in compliance with international standards.
