Israel's national water operator, Mekorot, has proposed implementing an artificial precipitation project in Azerbaijan to prevent water shortages, Diego Berger, director of the company’s international relations department, told Report.
According to Diego Berger, the project was presented to the Azerbaijan Land Development and Water Management OJSC last week.
“Among our proposals is artificial rain, which can be caused by spraying silver iodide particles onto aerosols in the clouds. This can be implemented in the north and south of the country. We used this method in Israel from 1972 until last year. Now this is no longer necessary. This project requires a lot of money, but its use in the future will not be so expensive,” Berger said.
