The "Akademik Tofiq Ismayilov" diving vessel of the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has been returned to service following a major overhaul at the Bibiheybat Ship Repair Yard.

Report informs, citing ASCO, that the overhaul included the restoration of the main engines, windlass, pumps, pipelines, electrical systems, crew living quarters, sanitary facilities, and galley. The vessel’s hull, both above and below the waterline, was cleaned and painted, with damaged sections replaced.

The propulsion and steering systems, bottom and side fittings, anchoring equipment, and chains were also repaired. The helicopter deck’s railing and drainage system underwent complete refurbishment.

Upgrades to the navigation and communication systems included the installation of three new fixed radio stations, a gyrocompass, and an Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB). The vessel was also equipped with new Inmarsat-C satellite communication equipment.

Following successful sea trials, the vessel was officially returned to service.

Measuring 91.8 meters in length and 17 meters in width, the "Akademik Tofiq Ismayilov" features a dynamic positioning (DP) system and is designed for diving operations at depths of up to 300 meters, as well as other complex underwater missions at depths reaching 1,000 meters.
