Deputy Minister: Zangazur Corridor important for supply chain security

The Zangazur Corridor is of great importance for the security of the supply chain in addition to the establishment of peace in the South Caucasus, the Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Samir Mammadov, said at the 1st International Transport and Logistics Forum held in Baku, Report informs.

According to him, the regional communication projects to be implemented between the East Zangazur Economic Region and Nakhchivan through the Zangazur Corridor, the full use of the existing potential of the liberated territories, create ample opportunities for sustainable development, and for Azerbaijan to promote the era of peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus.

The deputy minister said that important work is being done in the direction of reconstruction of the destroyed transport infrastructure, construction of new highways and railways in the liberated areas: "A Regional Transport Master Plan was prepared in those areas and important work was carried out in the direction of the implementation of the plan. Among the projects implemented according to the master plan, the Horadiz-Aghband railway is of great importance. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2024."
