China eyes improving transit capabilities via Azerbaijan in 2025

In 2025, China will provide Azerbaijan with more favorable opportunities for transit transportation, which will stimulate the expansion of supplies from nearby regions to China through the country's territory, China's chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan, Ding Tao, said during today's year-end press conference in response to Report's question.

He noted that relying on its geographical advantages, huge transit potential, and good infrastructure, Azerbaijan plays an increasingly important role in deepening regional interconnectivity thanks to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and its position as an important transport hub in Eurasia is further strengthening.

"According to statistics, in the first 10 months of this year, the volume of cargo transportation along the above-mentioned route increased by 68% year-on-year, to 3.8 million tons. The annual figure is expected to reach a record level," he said.

Ding Tao noted that China attaches great importance to the role of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route in promoting regional economic development and ensuring the stability of the global production and supply chain.
