Baku, Beijing ready to launch direct, trans-Caspian express routes China-Europe-China

Azerbaijan and China are ready to continue to promote the development of transport infrastructure, increase the efficiency of logistics and transportation, promoting regional connectivity, reads a joint statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chinese President Xi Jinping following talks on April 23, Report informs.

"The Parties highly value the cooperation between the two countries in the field of transportation and, while promoting regional connectivity, express their readiness to continue supporting the development of transport infrastructure and the improvement of logistics and transportation efficiency.

The Parties highly appreciated the signing of the Agreement on International Multimodal Transportation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the People's Republic of China. China is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan and other countries along the route to jointly establish safe, stable, direct, and China-Europe-China trans-Caspian express routes, and to continuously enhance the convenience of customs clearance and the efficiency of cargo transportation. Both sides are interested in accelerating the negotiation and conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement on international road transportation, improving the level of favorable conditions for road transport between Azerbaijan and China, and creating a foundation for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

The Parties note that the Global Sustainable Transport Forum organized by China holds positive significance for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of sustainable transport."
