Azerbaijan Railways see growth in passenger traffic by 84%

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC transported 5.136 million passengers in 2022, up 84% from 2021, Report informs referring to the joint-stock company.

Transportation along the Absheron ring railway accounts for a significant part of this indicator - 5.8 million passengers.

"Moreover, the movement of trains in the direction of Baku-Ganja-Baku was restored last year, and on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and the New Year's Day, additional trains were launched on the line," the report says.

A total of 3,875,729 passengers were transported by the railways of Azerbaijan in domestic and international directions before the pandemic, in 2019.
