In 2024, 27.1% or 832,946 tons of rail freight transport entering Georgia's territory was sent from Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
Russia's share was 42.1%, while other countries accounted for 30.8%.
Furthermore, last year 13.7 million tons of cargo was transported by Georgian railways, which is 0.9% more compared to the previous year. Of the total freight, 10.4% was domestic, 30.2% international, and 59.4% transit cargo.
During the year, 39% of freight transport consisted of coke and processed petroleum products, 20.4% chemicals, chemical products and artificial fibers, rubber and plastic products, 15.7% metal ores, as well as mining and quarry products, and 24.9% other products.
