Anar Guliyev: Holding WUF13 in Baku speaks of country's commitment to solving global challenges

The holding of the XIII session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku in 2026 indicates that Azerbaijan is committed to solving global challenges, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Anar Guliyev said speaking at the event "Current challenges to create sustainable and viable cities" at ADA University.

"More and more people currently move to cities. This process is accompanied by changes in the environment, accelerated urban development. All this damages the environment. Currently, the world economy is not ready for such 'environmental stress'," he said.

According to Guliyev, one of the best ways to create sustainable cities is to invest in human capital. At the same time, this cannot be achieved without close international cooperation, he added.
