I believe that Baku will be elected as the sports capital in 2026, Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana, head of the Permanent Observer Mission of the UN Peace University in Geneva, told the Ankara Bureau of Report.
Puyana stated that the nomination of Baku to be the sports capital of the world in 2026 is a positive event: "This is the promotion of soft power with high sports values of Azerbaijan. There have always been important international sports-oriented events in Baku, and the capital has successfully dealt with this task."
The ambassador also appreciated the steps of the Azerbaijani government aimed at establishing peace in the region: "I highly value the activity and decisions of Azerbaijan for the restoration of peace."
