Temporary sumo world championship flag to be handed over to Azerbaijan in Thailand

The temporary flag of the Sumo World Championship will be handed over to Azerbaijan at the World Championship, which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, in September.

Vice President of the Japanese Martial Arts and Culture Association Ulvi Aghamirov told Report about his participation in the presentation ceremony of the World Championship, which will be held in Baku in 2026, at the Sumo Expo 2025 exhibition in Osaka, Japan:

“In the Azerbaijani pavilion, operating as part of the Osaka Expo, a presentation of the World Championship was held on August 5, which received high praise from visitors. The championship’s promotional video and the official mascot, Azumo, have already been presented to the public. The mascot symbolizes strength and hospitality.”

According to Aghamirov, preparations are already underway.
