Spanish athlete makes history as first Olympic champion in karate

Spain's Sandra Sanches has become the first Olympic champion in the history of karate.
Report informs that the 30-year-old athlete beat Kiyou Shimizu of Japan in the kata event in the final and scored 28.06 points.
Hong Kong and Italy grabbed silver and bronze, respectively.
It is the first time that karate is represented in the Olympics. It involves three Azerbaijani athletes in the Kumite event.
