Iranian athlete Shermineh Chehel Amirani, who took fifth place in Baku at the 53rd ISSF World Championship in air rifle shooting at a distance of 10 meters among women, has received a license to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Report informs.

She became the first representative of Iran to achieve such success in air rifle shooting competitions.

"I feel great satisfaction. It was a really wonderful experience. I can't find the words. I'm satisfied with my performance. During the competition, I only thought about success. It was my dream to get a license to Paris," the athlete said.

Amirani didn't hide her admiration for the high level of organization and conduct of the championship.

"This is my first visit to Azerbaijan. I am delighted with everything I saw here. Security is at a high level. We didn't encounter any problems. Everything was organized at a high level. To be honest, I didn't have enough time to walk around Baku, see the sights. Azerbaijani cuisine is very tasty. The nature here is also amazing," Amirani said.

The ISSF World Championship held in Baku for the first time is the biggest event in this sport since 2018. Up to 2,000 athletes and representatives from more than 100 countries take part in it.
