Gabriela Dabrowski, the Canadian tennis player who won the women's doubles title at the 2023 US Open, has revealed that she underwent two surgeries related to breast cancer in 2024.
According to Report, in a heartfelt post on social media, Dabrowski shared her journey, stating, "It all seems surreal. If you noticed me smiling more on the court over the past six months, know that it was genuine. When faced with the real threat of losing everything, I began to truly appreciate the value of what I have."
The 32-year-old athlete was diagnosed with cancer in April. After a three-month hiatus, she made a triumphant return, winning the tournament in Nottingham alongside Erin Routliffe in her first appearance since the diagnosis. Dabrowski also underwent radiation therapy before the US Open.
