During the ongoing trial at the Baku Military Court on April 7, the accused, Melikset Pashayan, admitted to illegally serving in the military within the formerly occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
While answering questions from state prosecutors, Pashayan, a member of the armed forces of Armenia, revealed that he had been assigned a Kalashnikov rifle.
He admitted to standing at combat posts in multiple areas, including the villages of Sarijali, Gulluja, and other locations in the Aghdam district. When questioned by state prosecutor Fuad Musayev, Pashayan acknowledged that "Aghdam is a region of the Republic of Azerbaijan" but was unable to clarify what or whom he was protecting in Azerbaijani territories.
The trial continues for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, including war crimes, acts of terrorism, the preparation and execution of aggressive war, genocide, violations of war laws and rules, forcible seizure and retention of power, as well as financing terrorism, among other offenses stemming from Armenia's military aggression.
