First Azerbaijani Ombudsman dies

Elmira Suleymanova, the first Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Republic of Azerbaijan, has died at the age of 87, Report informs
Elmira Teymur Suleymanova was born on July 17, 1937, in Baku. She was a doctor of chemical sciences (1980), a professor (1981), and an individual scholarship holder of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2002–2019, Suleymanova held the position of Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan.
She was awarded with the Order of Glory and Honor for her services in the field of human rights protection by the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
