Davit Ishkhanyan confirms subordination to Monte Melkonyan as battalion commander in First Karabakh War

During the court hearing underway on April 3 at the Baku Military Court, the accused Davit Ishkhanyan, while answering questions from state prosecutors, noted that during the First Karabakh War, he was subordinate to Monte Melkonyan while serving as a battalion commander.

According to Report, he admitted to fighting against Azerbaijani military personnel in Aghdara, Khojavand, Kalbajar, and Aghdam during the war.

"There were 8 battalions in Khojavand, and I was the commander of one of them. The eight battalions were subordinate to the 'defense line' of the region, which was led by Monte Melkonyan, while the commander of the 'army' was Samvel Babayan," he said.

The trial continues for Armenian citizens accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, including preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violation of the laws and rules of war, as well as terrorism, financing terrorism, forcible seizure of power, forcible retention of power, and numerous other crimes as a result of Armenia's military aggression.
