Phishing attacks currently account for a bigger part - 70% - of cyber attacks targeting Azerbaijani citizens, Shahin Aliyev, head of the Electronic Security Service under Azerbaijan's Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, said.
Report quotes him as saying cybercriminals use various social engineering means to intercept users' personal data and financial assets through calls, SMS, and e-mail.
"Over the past period, we frequently faced cases of intercepting citizens' banking information. To prevent these cases, we, together with mobile operators, implemented joint measures and, as a result, such cases significantly dropped."
