Official: Azerbaijan allocated financial assistance for development of radio broadcasting 5 times since 2016

Since 2016, based on the orders of President Ilham Aliyev, financial assistance has been allocated five times, totaling 15 million manats ($8.82 million), to strengthen the material and technical base of existing radio broadcasting stations, ensure sustainable operation, and create the necessary infrastructure for uninterrupted power supply, Elmir Valizada, sector manager of the Presidential Administration, said at an event titled "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow of Radio Broadcasting in the Republic of Azerbaijan," Report informs.

According to Valizada, the application of modern technologies is necessary for the development of radio broadcasting:

"The transition from AM broadcasting to FM broadcasting and the expansion of FM broadcasting throughout the country continues. These works are carried out in accordance with state policy, and necessary funds are allocated from the state budget for these purposes. In our country, there is experience in providing support in this field not only with necessary resources but also with one-time financial assistance."

Velizada believes that radio still plays an important role in informing the population and shaping public opinion.
