The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) invites Azerbaijan to join the Partner to Connect digital coalition, aimed at developing digital infrastructure and ensuring universal access to communication, ITU Regional Director Natalia Mochu said at a reporting event of the Online Azerbaijan project.
To date, the commitments made by participants in the initiative amount to $73 billion, Moch said.
Report quotes her as saying these funds are aimed at developing reliable digital infrastructure, especially in developing countries, where an additional $1.7 trillion is needed for full connectivity.
"We invite Azerbaijan to join this platform, which already brings together representatives from 147 ITU member countries," Mochu said.
ITU is a specialized UN agency for digital technologies and is actively working to eliminate digital inequality worldwide.
