Bank representative: Malware on mobile devices can lead to theft of funds

Some malicious applications on mobile devices allow hackers to remotely control users' phones and interfere with the operation of banking applications, Director of the Information Security Department at Kapital Bank Chingiz Safarli said at the Fintex Summit held in Baku, Report informs.

According to Safarli, such programs make it possible to intercept user actions in the banking application and steal funds. In the first quarter of 2025, such threats were recorded on about 14,000 devices, mainly with the Android operating system.

Safarli noted that the bank uses advanced control systems that automatically block the application when malware is detected and inform the user of the necessary actions.

In addition, he warned about cases of fraud using calls impersonating a bank employee.

"To improve security, Kapital Bank will implement a notification system within the application if an outgoing call turns out to be suspicious," he noted.
