Azerbaijan eyes representation in leadership of Universal Postal Union

Azerbaijan will participate in the 28th Congress of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on September 7-19, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov said at the 1st Forum of European and CIS Postal Leaders held in Baku, Report informs.

The 3-day event was organized by the UPU in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, as well as Azerpost LLC, which operates within the Azerbaijan Transport and Communication Holding (AZCON).

According to Mammadov, the congress will consider Azerbaijan's candidacy for the organization's Management Board, as well as the Postal Operations Council.

"Azerbaijan attaches special importance to international cooperation in the postal sector and actively participates in bilateral and multilateral initiatives in this direction," the deputy minister said.

In addition, he said that it is planned to expand Azerpocht's core business - the development of courier, express and parcel services, as well as the introduction of new financial and logistics services.

"Another key direction is innovation. This includes the implementation of innovative solutions, the digitization of customer channels, and the development of new products and revenue sources," he said.
