Asset Asavbayev: Digitalization of railways is necessary to increase competitiveness

For such a complex and capital-intensive industry as railways, digitalization is not just a trend, but a necessity for development and increased competitiveness, Secretary General of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) Asset Asavbayev said at the Baku Energy Week, Report informs.

According to Asavbayev, Azerbaijan is located at the intersection of important transport corridors and plays a key role in regional integration.

"It is no coincidence that the issues of digitalization of railway transport are being discussed in Baku. We live in an era when technological changes in the transport sector are happening rapidly, and railway transport should not remain out of this process," he said.

Asavbaev noted that the TRACECA initiative plays an important role in coordinating the efforts of the participating countries in this area.
