Number of people treated in narcological and AIDS centers in Azerbaijan disclosed

Currently, 849 individuals are undergoing treatment under the methadone substitution treatment program at three centers in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

According to data from January to November 2024, there are 328 patients at the Republican Narcological Center, 378 at the AIDS Control Center, and 143 at the Sumgayit Narcological Center.

The Republican AIDS Control Center has indicated a reduction in the number of new HIV cases among drug users. By the end of November 2024, 70 HIV-positive Azerbaijani citizens (6.6%) were identified as injection drug users.
