Azerbaijan's mandatory medical insurance (MMI) system has covered more than 450 surgeries for the removal of benign brain tumors in 2024, Report informs, citing the State Agency for Mandatory Medical Insurance.

The MMI package comprehensively covers various aspects of the surgical procedure, including the operation itself, medications used during hospitalization, medical supplies, anesthesia, nutrition, biopsy, and pathohistological examinations.

The diagnosis and treatment of brain tumors, encompassing consultations with specialized doctors, MRI scans, contrast-enhanced MRI, CT scans, echoencephalography (EchoEG), electroencephalography (EEG), laboratory tests, and surgical interventions, are also financially supported under the mandatory medical insurance system.
