Belgium reports second case of monkeypox in humans

Belgium has confirmed two cases of human infection with monkeypox, virologist Mark Van Ranst at the Catholic University of Louvain said on Twitter, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.
"Yesterday, a second case of monkeypox virus was diagnosed in our laboratory in a man from the Flemish Brabant region," the Belgian virologist said.
Earlier it was reported that the virus was detected in a resident of the Belgian Antwerp.
Both cases may be interconnected, since the patients visited the same event some time ago.
The meeting of the federal authorities on the epidemiological situation is scheduled for Friday.
At the same time, the Institute of Tropical Medicine noted that the risks of the virus spread are assessed as low.
