During medical examinations conducted over the first seven months of this year, 762 cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection were identified and registered in Azerbaijan, the Republican Center for Combating AIDS told Report.
Of the infected, 749 are Azerbaijani citizens and 13 are foreigners. Among the Azerbaijani HIV-positive cases, 542 are men and 207 are women.
“Compared to the same period in 2024, when 799 people were infected with HIV, this year shows a slight decrease in the number of cases. This once again underscores the importance of timely testing and preventive measures,” the center said.
