The only lesson that Greece should take from the Karabakh conflict is a camaraderie and solidarity between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, along with the vigor and motivation this alliance generates, Yucel Karauz, the former military attaché at the Turkish embassy in Azerbaijan and reserve Major General, told Report.
He pointed out Greece’s backing of the ASALA terrorist group and Armenia, stating: “This matter isn’t recent. In light of this, Greece and India have chosen to collaborate politically. Such actions don’t reflect a friendly stance towards us. It’s crucial to recognize that 'my enemy’s enemy is my friend’ doesn’t always hold water in the realm of international politics. Greece is repeating Armenia’s error.”
The analyst highlighted the necessity for Greece to seek collaboration with Azerbaijan, given Azerbaijan’s pivotal role, particularly concerning energy delivery to Europe:
“Strengthening ties with Türkiye is equally essential for Greece. Hence, arming Armenia is a misguided approach. Yet, this reflects a consistent Greek stance. The driving force behind these developments isn’t daily political happenings but a retaliatory mindset akin to what Armenia experienced after the Karabakh conflict. This alliance doesn’t bear significance militarily or politically. Nonetheless, their strategy fortifies our bond, between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, helping us discern our allies and adversaries.”
