Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have always had good neighborly relations, but recent years have demonstrated a special level of deepened cooperation, Erkin Tukumov, Director of the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies, during the IV meeting of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Expert Council in Baku.
He noted that the foundation of the relationship between the two countries is trust. Tukumov expressed confidence that cooperation in the economic sphere would continue to strengthen.
“The trade turnover between the countries continues to grow. We have a great potential to expand the scope of cooperation,” he said.
He also highlighted that the volume of transportation along the Trans-Caspian Transport Route has increased by 62% over the past year, reaching 4.5 million tons per year. “The countries should focus on strengthening infrastructure. Kazakhstan has already invested over $35 billion in the modernization of railways, ports, and tourism hubs,” he added.
