The Western Azerbaijan Community has called on international organizations to abandon double standards and take a fair position, Spokesperson for the Community Ulviya Zulfigar said at the presentation of the book “Return to Western Azerbaijan: Our Tangible Cultural Heritage on Historical Lands,” Report informs.
She noted that in Armenia, even before the deportation of Azerbaijanis, the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis was destroyed: “More than 300 mosques and about 500 cemeteries were destroyed in Western Azerbaijan.”
She called statements by international organizations about the threat to Christian monuments in Karabakh absurd, reminding that it is at the expense of the state budget of Azerbaijan that these monuments are being restored: “We do not see any calls or condemnation in connection with the destroyed cultural heritage sites of Azerbaijanis. We call on international organizations to abandon double standards and take a fair position.”
