UNECE Executive Secretary: COVID-19 pandemic affected all countries

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all countries, Olga Algayerova, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), said at the plenary session within the Summit-level Meeting of Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in response to COVID-19.

According to Report, Algayerova said the pandemic showed the importance of changes, including digitalization. She said technological inclusiveness ensures the sustainable development of countries.

The executive secretary noted that UNECE standards are applied in the issue of 'green' recovery. The commission also attaches importance to the issues of developing 'smart' cities and energy efficiency.

She said sustainable recovery requires mobilization of resources that is only possible through consolidation of efforts.
