“Let's try to make the NGO platform a means for the realization of our wishes and desires for peace,” said David Fernandez Puyana, Ambassador and Permanent Observer of UPEACE to UN Geneva, Report informs.
He made the remark at the founding conference of the Global South NGO Platform held in Baku.
According to him, there is a connection between climate change and armed conflicts:
"Ensuring peace is one of the critical factors," he said. "With over 60 military conflicts currently ongoing worldwide, migration issues are deeply affected. This, in turn, has a direct impact on the climate. I hope we can help all communities impacted by climate change."
