Azerbaijan is one of the main driving forces in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), and its activities related to this organization are commendable, a member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Kamil Aydin told Report.
Commenting on the unofficial Summit of the OTS held in Azerbaijan at the beginning of July, the MP noted that this event in Shusha should be considered as a package of messages to the world:
“The existence of a very good relation between the leaders of Türkiye and Azerbaijan, which are the driving force of OTS, is an undeniable fact that revitalizes the Turkic world. Just as the Shusha Declaration signed on allied relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in June 2021 brought the ties between the two countries to the highest level, I believe that the Karabakh Declaration adopted in Shusha regarding the OTS will also bring success to the Turkic world as a whole."
"The country that opposes our activities in the South Caucasus the most is France, where the Armenian diaspora is active. They cannot digest the success of Azerbaijan. Therefore, Mr. Aliyev deliberately held this event in Shusha, which was liberated from occupation and regained its freedom. This is another proof that the city is a historical Azerbaijani and Turkic land.”
Kamil Aydin, who sees OTS as an economic power union, said that Azerbaijan is ahead of other Turkic states in terms of economy, trade and investments, and gives incentives to OTS with its exemplary steps:
"Azerbaijan transferred $2 million to the OTS secretariat, this step is an example that will encourage other Turkic states as well. OTS has established a $500 million equity investment fund. We've made a great start: equal contribution, equal management, equal pay. This is a great move in the name of democracy.”
Speaking about the joint activities of international organizations such as the European Union, the European Commission, NATO, and the UN, the MP added that the OTS can be significantly strengthened by the principle of ‘Strength comes from unity’:
“As Turkic-speaking peoples, we are already a family. OTS, as an international organization, should maintain its activities for the strengthening and growth of this family. Although the number of the UN Security Council member countries is large, only five countries make decisions.”
Aydin appreciated the proposal of Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's ‘Great Turkic language model’ at the Shusha summit and pointed out that one of the main issues for the further development of OTS is the implementation of activities on a common language in the future:
"English and French are spoken in the European Union. Although we understand each other as a Turkic family, it is important to have a common language for easier communication, because the main driving force of cultures is language. Thanks to these developments, citizens of all OTS members will travel within the member countries with an ID card in the future, just like citizens of the EU member countries."
